In the afternoon on March 19,the delegation led by Chen Tiesheng, the Director of Huawei Institute (Suzhou) visited Shandong University and held communication meeting with the School of Mathematics. Tong Xinghua, the Deputy Secretary of CPC of Shandong University, attended the activity. The meeting was presided by Qu Mingjun, the Secretary of COC of School of Mathematics.

Tong Xinghua expressed warm welcome to the arrival of the delegation led by Chen Tiesheng. He said that as a preponderant discipline in Shandong University, the School of Mathematics had laid a solid cooperation foundation with Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. in multiple research fields, and aimed to further accelerate the transformation of new theories and achievements based on the mutual platform advantages and through scientific and technological cooperation and talent cultivation, etc., and finally realize a win-win situation.

Professor Chen Zengjing, the Dean of the School of Mathematics gave a detailed introduction of the mathematics discipline's development history in Shandong University. He pointed out that the mathematics discipline of Shandong University had made a series of international leading achievements in basic mathematics, financial mathematics, password mathematics, and several other fields, and cultivated a batch of leading talents of important international influence in mathematics. Under the current trend of a new round of scientific and technical revolution, industrial transformation has been driven into a new development phase by the formation of big data, innovation of theoretical algorithms, and improvement of computing power; various models and algorithms built on the basis of mathematical principles will become the core driving force for Made in China and "Intelligent Manufacturing" in China. The subsequent cooperation with Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. can further promote the dominant position of both parties in their respective fields.

Chen Tiesheng made academic discussion in mathematics with leaders and professors from Shandong University presented at the meeting, and discussed deeply about subsequent opportunities for technical cooperation.

During the meeting, Jing Haiming, the Director of the Shandong Service Office of the University, proposed feasible suggestions in terms of the cooperation ways between the two parties. He said that Huawei Institute (Suzhou) could build a comprehensive strategic cooperation system covering all discipline fields of Shandong University based on the platform of School of Mathematics, so as to better serve national economy.

Qu Mingjun pointed out in the meeting that as a well-known communication technology company, Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. could cooperate with Shandong University to realize resource complementarity and mutual promotion, advance the research of mathematical theories to a higher level, promote achievement transformation, and drive qualitative development of both parties in the future.

During the meeting, both parties conducted in-depth discussion and communication about the technical fields of potential cooperation opportunities, and laid good foundation for the construction of close strategic cooperation relationship in the next step.

Relevant responsible persons and part teacher representatives from Student Employment and Self-employment Instruction Center, School of Mathematics and Institute for Financial Studies attended the meeting.
